Question: I had a vertigo episode 2 weeks ago at 1am. went to the ER where they irrigated my ears which sent me into room spinning mode again. They diagnosed a BBVP issue and suggested I see an ENT doctor which I did, I irrigated my ears before the appointment and the specialist gave a quick look and said my ears were clear. He scheduled tests for me coming up in a couple of weeks. I am still feeling quite dizzy most of the day and I am seeing spots and flashes in my left eye.

Brief Answer:
Other conditions besides BPPV to consider.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.

I have read your query and here is my advice.

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo episodes commonly last less than a minute and are triggered by certain head positions.

Lasting dizziness and flashes in eyes are not typical symptoms of BPPV, in my opinion, other conditions such as vestibular migraine, Ménière's disease, transient ischemic attack, etc. should be included in the possible diagnoses.

To complete the examinations necessary for a correct diagnosis I think a brain MRI is necessary besides the tests ordered by your ENT Doctor.

Discuss with your Doctor about these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
