I Had An IUD( Mirena ) Removed At The End
Question: I had an IUD(mirena) removed at the end of January, since the beginning of March I have had period-like spotting daily. This week, it has become more than spotting. It is filling a tampon and nearly leaking through in >2 hours. Do I need to go into a doctor?
Brief Answer:
It can be normal period.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
Spotting for days or weeks after mirena IUD removal is a very common .
It doesn't show any pathology.
The fact that you are bleeding now means that you are having a period. Use only acetaminophen not ibuprofen because it may increase bleeding.
You can wait for up to three days and if the intensity of bleeding is reducing gradually this is a normal period and you don't need to consult a doctor.
If the feeding continues for more than 3 days and in increased amount you should visit your doctor.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
