I Had An Intense Burning Sensation On My Right Thigh

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Feb 2019
Question: I had an intense burning sensation on my right thigh just above the knee just one month after back surgery between L3 and L4 for my left leg. It left me with pain on a 6-8 “ x 5 “ section of my leg with pins and needles running up and down the side of my right leg. What occurred? Now I have s/s of Lymph edema in and around my ankle on that same leg.

Brief Answer:
Due to nerve root compression.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The burning sensation with pins and needles are suggestive of a nerve root compression at the level of lower spine. Oral muscle relaxants, adequate hydration, local steroid injections, methylcobalamin supplements and medicines like pregabalin help in improvement. You can get the diagnosis confirmed after an MRI scan of the spine and consult a neurologist for proper prescription medicines.
I hope this answers your query.
