I Had An Xray Of My Foot Done. I Have

Question: I had an xray of my foot done. I have differing opinons about what is seen in the xray. One doctor says all is normal the other says something is amiss with a bone. Can I send you a picture of the xray for another opinion? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
No bone injury. Small cystic area seen.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the attached X-ray image. There is no sign of injury to the bones in the foot. However in the area of pointer, there is small area of rarefaction of bone that can be due to a benign bone cyst. This can be a normal variation also. It is best to get an MRI scan done to rule out any abnormality.
I hope this answers your query.

Thank you so much Dr. Tayal for your quick and helpful response. I have been having extreme pain in that exact spot on my foot, stabbing pain that starts there and wraps around my ankle and goes up into my calf. Three weeks ago I woke up with it, was in horrific pain and could not take a step. I went to the ER, where a blood clot in my calf was ruled out and I was sent home. These xrays were done last week. A friend who is an ER physician looked at them and said something was amiss in the area with the pointer. I had noticed that thing myself. The report from the radiologist report came back as all was normal. My ER Doctor friend looked again, insisted something was amiss and my physical pain correlates with it. Thus, she said get another opinion so I found you. Now insurance is not going to cover an MRI with a radiologists report saying all is normal. Do you feel an MRI is in my best interest or can I wait this out and see if the issue resolves? Obviously, if the pain continues I will take all of this information and ask my primary care physician to pursue approval for an MRI. Thank you again for your input.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to soft tissue injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
This can also happen due to a soft tissue injury. You can wait for 3-4 weeks and give your foot proper rest and see if it resolves on its own. You can get a repeat X-ray done after 4 weeks to recheck.
Hope my answer is helpful.
