I Had Blood Work Recently And Everything Was Fine Except
Question: I had blood work recently and everything was fine except glucose at 110 and alkaline phosphatase slightly elevated at 131.
I have stopped eating high GI foods and and mostly eat low GI foods such as lean meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds etc.. for a beverage I just drink water or plain green tea. I have started exercising a little bit and have lost weight.
My question: Am I doing the right thing for my blood sugar levels and is my alkaline phosphatase ok?

Brief Answer:
ALP is normal, increase physical activity .
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think that your ALP levels are within normal range. A level more than 140U/L is considered higher than normal.
You are in a good way because a glucose level if 110 mg / dl is recommended to be treated with healthy diet with low GI.
Also I want to remind you that you should increase your physical activity and exercising.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you. I have a couple more questions.
- Should I be tested for A1c?
-I started my new diet and exercise regimen last week... when should my glucose levels be tested again?
-yes, I will increase physically activity as you advised. Is losing 1-2 pound a week ok until I am a healthy weight?

Brief Answer:
No need of HbA1c as of now
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I think it is not necessary to test HbA1c immediately.
You can continue the healthy regimen that you are having and you can test the blood glucose levels after a month.
In my opinion loosing 1 - 2 pounds in a week is too much for a normal weight person.
You can maintain a normal weight while keeping a healthy diet.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.

I have one more question and I wanted to clarify about my weight.
I weigh 200 pounds and I am 5 ft. 5 in . I am a 34 year old male.
I believe I am overweight, so I want to lose 20-30 pounds.
My question: In your opinion do you think it would ok for me to lose the 20-30 pounds at the rate of 1-1.5 pounds a week? To help my 110 glucose levels?
What’s your recommendation?
Thanks!
