I Had Electrocoagulation (I Think) For Couperose 3 Months Ago.
Question: I had electrocoagulation (I think) for couperose 3 months ago. (It was sharp painful pricks with a needle). 2 days later I was in the sun for 30 seconds and since then my cheeks are puffy. Will this go away in time? Is there anything I can do? Thank you for your advice.
Brief Answer:
Photosensitive skin

Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query as well as the image.
Perhaps it is due to sun sensitive skin. I suggest you use a broad spectrum sunscreen, throughout the day. Re-apply every 2-3 hours, especially when outdoors.
Hope I have answered your query.

My question is simply 'Since I never go in the sun is there any point in using a sun-screen as you suggest?'
Brief Answer:
Regarding sunscreen
Detailed Answer:
hi.
Still you must use a sunscreen regularly in case you go out in sun, even if it is for a short while, to prevent aggravating skin sensitivity. Sunscreen, especially that containing zinc oxide (15%) also helps to calm down the skin so that is an added benefit. Puffiness is most likely due to reactive vasculature which is part of rosacea. Using metronidazole 1% cream at night may help apart from avoiding trigger factors like heat, sun and topical irritants..
Take care.
