Question: I had many symptoms including tingling in hands and feet. Lower back and neck pain. cool and warm sensations. Nerve pain in the hands and feet. muscle spasms like as if they are beating or jumping. Joint pains. Feeling tired, especially when I get up. Cracking bones. feeling stiff. After many tests, neurologist couldn’t find anything and diognosed me with fibromyalgia. My thyroid seemed to be the only problem. Ultrasound showed no abnormalities. Antibodies test for hashimoto came negative. Tsh was around 5 for 3 months and I started to use .25 mg synthetic hormone and attaching the final 3 tests. Now I feel nervous and tremors, especially before I go to sleep. my final test showed tsh went down to .8. Please take a look at the tests and advise. Should I stop taking the pill?

About hypothyroidism treatment:

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for adking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
First i would ask to reattach the results as they are not available.
Frim your description i would say that TSH 5 is in most of the cases asymptomatic and the system you reported are not suggetive for hypothyroidism.
TSH 0.8 is within the normal ranges but you see no improvement of symptoms ( as expected).
When TSH is under 10 mUi/ml and symptoms of hypothyroidism are present (dry skin, constipation, low heart rate, feeling sleepy ect) no treatment is needed but just keep monitoring every 6 month.
So, you may stop levothyroxine and check TSH after 6 months .
Hope the information will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Both TSH levels are within the normal ranges, as mentioned above you may stop the treatment and check TSH every 6 monyhs.
If you will have symptoms of hypothyroidism, start levothyroxine again, otherwise, TSH over 10 mui/ml needs mandatory treatment.
Best wishes,
Dr.mirjeta
