I Had Muscular Spasms Recurring In Lower Back, Mostly Joined

Question: I had muscular spasms recurring in lower back, mostly joined to left hip. Was told by someone it was a sciatic issue. Also my left knee buckles. What treatment do you recommend for this which gives me very little continuous time for writing or working at the table? Back easily tires, aches, and then hurts terribly. After bending down to do moderate work I'm unable to do anything physical next five days or so. I fear it's affecting other side too.

Brief Answer:
Slip disc
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
It is possible you have slip disc causing sciatica and weakness of your lower limb. Do you have any shooting pain from the lower back to leg? Any pins and needless sensation?
Do avoid bending forwards or lifting heavy objects. It would be best to get examined by an Orthopaedic surgeon and get an MRI if the lumbosacral spine to look for slip disc.
I hope I have answered your query. I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thank you very much, Dr XXXXXXX and XXXXXXX I have no shooting pain but a continuous ache from left lower back towards or rather along left thigh. And the left knee has been buckling since I had a bad fall hitting left knee more, when my footwear tilted. Not stilettos but broad and moderately high, tripping over loose XXXXXXX Secondly, during every fall my left knee or hip gets impacted. If it's of interest, I has viral encephalitis in 2010 early, leaving a slight residue in left lobe. From 2015 Dec the back issue became serious. Your consequent advice?

Welcome again,
Regarding the low back pain, it's most probably due to slip disc. Better to get an MRI lumbosacral spine after getting seen by an Orthopaedic or Spine surgeon.
The knee problem could be local or neurological. An MRI knee will be helpful to look for ligament tears that can cause the problem.

I had done the MRI revealing ligament tears following a bad fall last year. That is when consequent physiotherapy did not work though an arthroscopy was not needed. But shall proceed as you say and get recommendation for lumbosacral MRI. Thank you very much, Doctor.

Hello Dr! After the last session I've realized that most of my backache trials were related to fatigue. But I now recall, way back in 1992, three years after my only child was born, I suffered a bad backache which was not of lower back. I used to type on a manual typewriter in those days. A very competent specialist of XXXXXXX Medical College then said it was psychosomatic and didn't require any medication. In that light I'd like you to review your reading about my case, because now I go through a similar personal stress though not so tough.
