Question: I had my yearly mammogram and ultrasound because I am dense. they did not find any masses or anything but they said both of my auxilary lymph nodes were a little enlarged. they want to do a needle biopsy. I have no history of breast cancer of lymphoma or leukemia in my family at all. I feel great and have no other symptoms of anything How concerned should I be this is cancer? what else could it be?

Brief Answer:

Some times axillary lymphadenopathy could be due to a infection

Detailed Answer:

Hi

I do not think you are having breast cancer and as your yearly mammogram and ultrasound normal with no other symptoms like breast lump or pain nothing to worry

Some times axillary lymphadenopathy could be due to a infection

Would advise you take a course of ciprofloxacin antibiotic with your doctors advise

Hope fully swelling will reduce

If it does not then biopsy is necessary

Regards
