Hi,
Welcome to Ask A Doctor panel.
Thanks for posting your query
How long back, you had oral sex? Is it insertive sex or a receiving one? If you have been tested, How long after the episode you had been tested for HIV infection?
If he is having an undetectable viral load on RNA quantitative PCR, then he is no longer infectious. Whether he is on treatment, if so regular? When was his test done to claim to be undetectable? Commonly done viral load test will reveal only HIV 1 infection and not HIV 2 which is a rare possibility.
The risk of HIV transmission is low with oral sex as per CDC, XXXXXXX United States of XXXXXXX

I don’t know anything about his testing or anything like that but he made it seem like he was ok. He sent me a website saying that undetectable hiv can’t be transmitted so I’m taking a wild guess to say that he’s been tested and his hiv is undetectable. I’m going for a test tomorrow but should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
HIV tests will be reliable only after the window period

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Remaining healthy without any symptoms does not assure that the individual is free from HIV infection. With many individuals with HIV infection. Symptoms appear only 7-10 years after the exposure, when his immune system totally impaired.
Undetectable viral load is unlikely to transmit the infection. It is correct.
But when was his viral laod undetectable? Is it done within a weeks time or long back? Is there any sexual activities afterwards? Is he adhere to drugs strictly? All these factors can influence his viral status. Once undetectable means, not necessarily remains so for ever.
HIV tests will have its own window period. Only after the window period is over the test results will be reliable. Consult a physician. Under his guidelines you plan your activities. Best wishes.
