I had received unprotected oral sex from another individual and got sick and had a bad cough one month later... can you help me with what’s going on ?
Brief Answer:
It doesn't seem problematic
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask a doctor panel.
I can understand your concern
The first thing that I should emphasize is that the other person has not had visible local secretions, or small papules or vesicles or redness in the sexual organ than the probability to have sexual transmitted diseases is not high.
However it might be that this a viral situation and is not related at all with that event.Usually it starts as a general muscle pain with malaise sore throat cough with or not a fever and it is not more than seven days.
If you think that you are in this condition than no worries about wait for some days. Instead you can take painkillers such as paracetamol or Ibrufen 2-3 times per day orally. If this situation lasts and especially if you have a continuous low fever which is specific for most of sexually transmitted diseases than better to see by your doctor
Nevertheless I strongly recommend you to have protected sex contact.
Hope to have been helpful

am a 22 year old male.... Around Late last January I found a very hard small same colored bump on my penis shaft. It was very small and very hard. I tried to pop it multiple time it didn’t pop at all. About a couple weeks later it grew a little bigger and still very hard. It grew week after week... it’s like I made it noticeable by messing with it. After messing with it time and time again it finally inflamed. It was full of yellow puss and it had a bad odor. After I finally popped it with it would fill right back up again. After messing with it.... a couple weeks later I receivers oral sex from another partner not to mention I was in a relationship. Yeah I cheated only once and I was disappointed in myself.... but Marilyn’s March 9 I decided to go to the ER and let them take a look at it... they didn’t look at they just told me to go get a std test in 2 months.... but while there they gave me 2 pills and a shot just Incase it was ghonorea chlymidea of syphilis.... so I decided 2 days later to go ahead and get tested it came back everything was good.... I got tested March 9th and it came back Good around March 22.... around April 5th I had gotten sick... coughing, sneezing, sleeping, swollen neck lymph nhodes and even a swollen grown( not to mention I have groin hernia) I also had a dry cough that was very horseness which I still have mildy till this day.... me and my ex didn’t have sex maybe 1 or 2 times between March and early April.... she got std tested may 15 and everything came back good... I have always had a problem with sweaty genitals and my scrotum has always had 3 or 4 sebaceous cyst on them.... fast forward to October of last year my ex called and told me she went to the doctor and they said she had herpes and chlamydia... she said she didn’t cheat the last 5 months we was together and slept with 7 different guys from XXXXXXX to October.... do you think I have herpes ? And not to mention I was really stress out when I was sick from being scared of losing her. This is the full rundown help please

Hi again
Now the clinical picture is clearer to me.
I read carefully the history you provide.
According to this you should definitely be screened again for ate and especially herpes simplex virus and Chlamydia infection.
There are blood tests for you to do HSV 1 and 2 and anticorps for Chlamydia blood tests too.The secretions should be retested too because the first time might have been to early to be detected.
Please I strongly recommend you to do the above.
Even though the results are negative again you should be treated because your partner is positive for them actually.
Regards
Dr Jolanda
