Brief Answer:
skin erosion following infection. cyst less likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query with attached image of penis and here is my advise.

* As per my surgical experience, the current issue sounds to be more in
relation with skin erosion following bacterial or fungal infection most likely.

* Usually cyst is an encysted swelling with intact overlying skin, content
inside may be fluid, sebum or infective material.

Kindly provide me further details so that I can answer your query completely.

1. Duration of current condition with progress since beginning.
2. Associated itching, burning or any fluid discharge ?
3. History of unprotected intercourse ( if sexually active ) ?

Thanks.

Duration has been 12 days and has stayed about the same size.

No itching, burning, or discharge.

I’ve never had a sexual transmitted disease and been with same woman for over a year who is also not had an sexually transmitted disease.

The bump is under the skin and is “hard”. There is no sign of an ingrown hair.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the follow up.

* Induration beneath the skin can be due to post inflammation changes after
bacterial infection which is possible even without STD infection.

* Penile sebaceous cyst will be raising above the skin epithelial surface and
again, its possibility is lower in your case.

Kindly get consultation with your family physician as this requires

- prescription of antibiotics as macrolides or else for faster healing
- anti inflammatory medicines
- sterile dressing ( or you can opt to apply polymycin cream 3 times a day
after antiseptic cleaning )

Wish you best recovery.
Regards.

One last question....in your opinion, does it visually look like it might be a form of STD (heroes or genital warts)?

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome for follow up.

As per my surgical experience, the present wound is in partial healing status and does not sound to be STD at this stage.
But requires definite care and management to prevent any problems.

Thanks.
