Brief Answer:
Cough may last for two weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

The fact that x-ray was clear shows that the treatment was effective and the cough isn't as a result of pneumonia now.
The cough may last updated to two weeks till the mucosal lining is regenerated.
Also post nasal drop can cause cough and spitting.
You can use antihistamines such citerizine or loratadine to help with nasal secretions and cough.
Also you can take a dry cough syrup.
Clear your nose often with saline water.
Take multivitamins to help immunity and mucosal lining regeneration.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
