Brief Answer:
other possible causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be worried re any abnormal lesions but as your doctors stated it is unlikely to be a meningioma.

The meninges enclose the brain and spinal cord, they are membranes/linings inside the skull and vertebral canal.
It usually occurs in middle aged and older persons so it is unlikely at your age.
In that age group, when they do occur, they are benign (not cancerous) in 90% of persons

The majority are identified through symptoms.

With your age, the fact that you do not have any symptoms and the fact that it was examined and the examination was not in keeping with a meningioma, makes this diagnosis unlikely

There are other causes such as lymph nodes, lipoma, cysts

If you remain worried then imaging can be done

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Thank you. My doctor said folliculitis. Does it present like this?

Brief Answer:
can present in some cases

Detailed Answer:
HI

Sincere apologies for the very late reply.
Had some technical issues

Folliculitis can present with an 'bump' or it can cause lymph nodes in the surrounding areas to enlarge as well

It would respond to topical antibiotics and the application of a warm compress to encourage drainage.
In some persons oral antibiotics are needed

Again apologies

Is a hard bump under the skin present with Folliculitis?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Michelle Gibson James (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
no not likely cancerous

Detailed Answer:
Hi

No it is not likely cancerous.

Cancer is not the most common reason for lumps and bumps.

Folliculitis can present this way, your doctor would base this on his or her examination findings (the feel of the lump and surrounding areas)
You can try the treatment that your doctor suggests and monitor for any changes
