I Have A Hit A Roadblock. I Am Unsure Of

Question: I have a hit a roadblock. I am unsure of what to do next. I am a 30 year old female, and until I had my first child back in 2014, I thought I was fairly healthy. I’ve had asthma and knee pain since childhood, but no other harsh medical issues aside from those. For the past few years, I have sudden hormonal changes, including a diagnosis of PCOS, absent menstrual cycles month to month (as well as irregular heavy uncontrollable bleeding), heavy clear vaginal discharge, occasional gas pain so bad I feel like a knife is cutting through my abdomen, and constant upset stomach- almost daily from everything I eat. My gyno was worried there was a serious thyroid issue, at first the numbers were out of whack, but after monitoring it, they appear to be in the normal range for quite some time now. The two biggest symptoms of all which I have had trouble with is bone pain/inflammation and intense eye burning (weird right?!). First sign was during and after my pregnancy in 2014, I lost mobility in my arms because the inflammation was so bad, after about 3 months of barely being able to open a door or move my fingers, I was given a cortisone shot, now the pain is only intermittent and only last a few minutes at a time. But I now have similar pain in my knees, ankles, and bottom of my feet. I have trouble walking, climbing stairs, or even standing for prolong periods of time. The more active I am the worst it gets; and the more I rest, the worst it also gets. My eye burning and stinging has been so bad, I cannot even go into the sunlight. The sun makes it worst, and if I cry (which often happens from the eye pain) it burns worst too. Eye drops help to relieve the pain, but it is persistent, and happens daily. I have nearly crashed my car from the pain being so bad. Though, I have noticed recently, it is usually worst in the mornings. The sensitivity of my eyes in the sun is also on my skin, and I occasionally get very bad blisters on my arms from being in the sun too long…. 90% of the time, all of my symptoms happen at once, and are not usually sporadic. I was suggested to see an internal medicine doctor, he did my bloodwork, and everything seemed to look great! I really don’t know where to go from here, I am seeing a gastro doctor next week for next steps.. but I honestly feel like no one knows what to do. I am not sure if I am even seeing the right kind of doctors. But I am very frustrated. And today really made me sad about it all after I went walking for an hour or two at a park, drove home, and could barely walk from my car to my house because the bones in my feet hurt so bad… someone please help me and tell me what to do?! Is it possibly my hormonal issues could cause all of the other issues with my body as well? I feel lost, and I have resorted to seeking advice online because right now I just feel crazy.

Hi and Welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
Really sorry to hear of your long stnding pains.
Few things appear to be related to your PCOS that is the abnormal mensteal flow or amenorrhea however the rest of the issues specially the pains needs a separate assessment and evaluation.
Its difficult to exactly say , but the skin rashes , ulcer , and joint pain make me think more of a rhuematalogical disease like SLE or Rheumatoid arthritis or myositisIts .It also can explain the eye symptoms which do occur with rhuematalogical diseases .There are other possibilities like sarcoidosis and Ankylosing spondylitis .
Fibromylgia is also a possibilty if all tests are normal .
Its difficlut exactly for me to say more , as it needs detalied evaluation and investigations however I understand you probably need to see a rheumatologist that is specialist in joint and muscle disease .Thats probably the best way to proceed and I am hopeful it would be sorted out.
Best luck. I Hope it's clear .Please do not hesitate to ask anything else you need to know. kind Regards Dr Rahman. .
