No doctor consultation yet. I am 45 yrs old.
Lump can be detached from testicle by fingers & seems to be contained within the tissue that surrounds testicle. The testicle itself feels totally normal but is a little sensitive.
I have a lower right abdominal ache but this isn't unusual for me. I suspect I have IBS & i have a long standing hip flexor/psoas isdue that side. Could this refer pain to the right testicle?

I suspect long standing IBS as when stressed (as i am at moment) i get constipation & abdominal pain. I have had lower right abdominal pain for about 2-3 weeks. Could this refer the pain?

Thanks for your feedback.
The commonest reason for such a lump as you have explained so well is epididymal cyst.
Can be confirmed by High resolution Ultrasound (HRUSG)/Color Doppler.
Usually may not need treatment unless torsion or any changes cause pain.
Little sensation of testis on mild pressure is an actual normal testicular sensation as we too do this test.
IBS-C. Yes is known to occur with stress , C for constipation/ The treatment also depends more on control of stress and anxiety.
Please get the Color Doppler/HRUSG done and let me know the reports.
If the hip flexor/Psoas issue has indirectly cause spasm of lower abdominal muscles causing entrapment of the sensory nerves supplying scrotal area, it can cause referred pain to the scrotum.
I hope this answer helps you.
