I Have A Mild Stabbing/burning Pain When I Swallow. Please

Question: I have a mild stabbing/burning pain when I swallow. Please note this does not feel like the usual viral or bacterial throat infection. The pain feels further down compared to usual throat infection pains.

Pain Location:
The pain is felt somewhere in my back, between my shoulder blades, somewhat to the right side.

Pain type:
The pain occurs 1-2 seconds after I initiate the swallowing process. It feels like a mild radiating and stabbing pain. I feel it more with solid food, and less with liquids or saliva. I also feel the pain when I burp.

Pain timeline:
Today is the 7th day with the pain. I haven't seen any increase of the pain since it started seven days ago. I am not sure if the pain has decrased though.

Other symptoms:
No other symptoms, no fever, no difficulty swallowing, no liquids coming up, no acid feeling. Only odynophagia.

To be noted:
10 days ago I did have a stiff neck that I couldn't move to the right. The stiffness started two days after a bad neck strain while rock climbing. The strain happens when I was trying to lift my body with my right arm and the shoulder was touching my right ear (a very difficult position) and there my neck got tightened and it was very painful to lower my arm to its normal position for those few seconds. Also, 7 days ago I also had an anger burst in which I stretched so bad and grinding my teeth.

Do you think the neck strain incidents could be related somehow with the painful swallowing? Maybe some muscular or nerve damages? Do you have previous experience with patients with these symptoms?

Brief Answer:
There are few possibilities

Detailed Answer:
Hii. Welcome to the Ask A Doctor service.

There are few possibilities: it can be any acid reflux due to some stress,or any lesion obstructing the food passage, and neurological pain, any gastroenteritis. So you start one course of antibiotic with tab augmentin twice daily and tablet meyrogyl thrice daily. Start pantoprazole for 1 week. Drink plenty of water. Do warm saline. If it doesn't dissolve visit an ent surgeon and a Gastroenterologist. You may need to undergo endoscopy of the voice box pr larynx and gastroscopy. You may also need a CECT neck which will detect any lesions involving the neck which can cause the pain. Gastroenterologist can also instructor you to do barium swallow x ray but only after doing above three tests. So better to diagnose properly. Follow the above advice. Start antibiotic and pantoprazole.

Review with the reports or if you have any queries.

But why do you think this might be an infection?

I don't think it is an infection because I don't have other symptoms. No fever, no fatigue, and there has been no increase in intensity of the pain. The pain has remained constant. Also, I have no immunocompromise issues to be suspected for an infection. Can you please shed some more light?

Detailed Answer:
Hii. In current scenario of covid infection you can have any sort of viral infection with symptoms like throat pain, throat irritation, hawking sensation of throat with no symptoms like fever. You can do a blood test like total count but better to avoid hospital in this covid period. Even oesophagitis or gastritis can take place due to acid reflux, bacterial inflammation. So you can start an antibiotic with pantoprazole tablet. Drink more fluids and follow the previous advice.
