I Have A Procedure Tuesday That Will Open My Vein

It says Plavix...please check and see if you are taking this. You need to be on this as prescribed.
Then it goes and say...hold Plavix/Coumadin for...do not hold Placid...days prior to surgery. It doesn't say how many days.
This is copied from the doctor's instructions. The pharmacy told me it is not a good idea to be on Plavix during the surgery. I'm confused.

Thanks for your feedback.
Please check if you are on ''PLACID'' Tablet and whether if contains Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide as active ingredients. This is to reduce heart burn and may be continued. ( not to be taken with any other medicine simultaneously)
''PLAVIX'' :please check if this contains Clopidogrel. This is given to avoid formation of blood clots.
Role of Plavix - whether to continue before and after surgery, particularly of vessel surgery is the choice of your Surgeon and should be followed as per his/her choice. This is because of there are two schools of thoughts.
What are the actual instructions? Can you please post the Instructions attached to this query?

I did type the exact instructions. I'm not happy with your answer. I need to know to stay on plavix on the day of the surgery.
Brief Answer:
This is a crucial decision hence you have to follow your Doctor.
Detailed Answer:
I can understand your point of view.
As mentioned above, this is a medicine that is used as anti-platelet to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.
Hence the choice whether to stop/hold before surgery or not is decided by the TEAM of Doctors managing you medically and surgically as they know the case better than anyone else.
It is a calculated risk that has to be weighed and decided by your Doctors. Hence I can not say for sure, as I do not know your Cardio-vascular status.
Please ask your Doctor as this is very crucial decision. You have to follow his advise.
I hope this clears further.
