Glandular fever is a viral infection. So the glands are inflamed but not containing any pus/liquid which can be drained out.
Hence draining out the painful glands is usually not an option unless ultrasound exam shows liquid filled gland.

Symptoms subside within a month for majority of patients. However, in 10% it can last upto 4 months.
So maybe it will stay for another 3-4 weeks .

Sorry Doc forgot to ask, is there any strong pain killer I can take or any other thing you suggest as pain in just out of control and neck is like stretched so much.

Ok so in case of grandular fever both glands to be swollen and not that big , is that correct.
So I need to be worried about one side gland of that big size.
