I Have A Question About My Pregnancy

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Jan 2024
Question: I have a question about if in my situation pregnancy is possible. On dec 22nd I had intercourse. I at the time was on sprintec birth and on the 22nd I took 2 plan b because I was paranoid. But I just seen that it may not be as effective for someone like me who weighs 200. But now when I was on placebo week I didn%E2%80%99t get my period. On the 22nd I also had a doctor appointment later that day and they performed a Pap smear on me and change my birth control to Norethindrone. I haven%E2%80%99t started taking it yet because i wanted to finish the sprintec pack and also I was waiting to start my period but like I said it never came during placebo week. My last period was on 12/3/23 and my anticipated period was supposed to start 12/31/23 according to my app. I%E2%80%99m just paranoid because I%E2%80%99ve never not had a period during my placebo week. In the past I%E2%80%99ve took plan B%E2%80%99s before and still had my period that week. But this time no.

Brief Answer:
Stress could be possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Sprintec is almost a safe & effective contraceptive, which is a combined hormonal pill. Therefore, you were protected against having pregnancy. Usually, you did not need to take Plan B course, while on sprintec. Still, if you took Plan B pill, it should be an additional protection against pregnancy.

Therefore, in my opinion, your chances of having pregnancy are very minimal, particularly with additional use of plan B. Use of hormonal contraceptive, makes some times periods irregular including delayed period in many cases, which is very much normal.

Also, there is no conclusive study to show that sprintec or Plan B is less effective in overweight women.

Still, to be pretty sure, an home pregnancy test may be undertaken to confirm/rule out pregnancy.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
