I Have A Rash That Started Out Looking And Feeling

Question: I have a rash that started out looking and feeling like bug bites on my shoulder. Now it has spread down both arms and legs, itches terribly and both my legs are swollen from the knee down.
Brief Answer:
Eczematous rash, topical & oral steroids, antihistaminic
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photograph.
It seems to be an eczematous rash.
I would recommend you to take a short course of oral and topical steroids.
I would recommend you to take tablet prednisone 20 mg once daily for 5-7 days and apply cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily.
Also take antihistaminic like tablet cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching and irritation.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.

So, I’m in the ER and the DR here says it’s a mite. And it can be transmitted to others. My question is then why hasn’t it been transmitted to the person I am in the closest contact with? My mother in law is in a wheelchair living with me and I lift her up and bathe her. She grabs right on the rash every day and has absolutely NO signs of redness or rash anywhere.
Brief Answer:
Not looking like a mite infection
Detailed Answer:
According to your complaints and the picture you have uploaded it is not looking like a mite infection according to me.
Mite infection usually involves finger web spaces, wrist, abdomen, chest, axilla, buttocks and thighs.
It is very unlikely for mite infection to involve legs and and arms.
In mite infection a family member or relative is usually affected.
Also itching is more during the night.
