Question: I have a sigmoid ostomy from a previous cancerous carcinoma in my rectum in 2014. It was removed after treatment in 2015 and I currently am under the care of a urologist. I take Oxybutin but over the summer have had bed wetting issues. Could this be from drinking too much carbonated bevarages or alcohol?

Brief Answer:
carbo. beverages, alcohol can produce excess urine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* As per my surgical experience, carbonated beverages and alcohol are
known to provoke loss of extra water from the kidney and producing more
urine with bed wetting issue.

* When the same persists even though beverages or alcohol are not
consumed for last 3-4 days, then other possibilities of urinary tract
infection or else can be considered.

Regards.
Dr Bhagyesh
