I Have A Single Lesion On The Lower Outer Skin

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Nov 2018
Question: I have a single lesion on the lower outer skin of my vagina,

I thouht it could be herpes, or a chancre or chancroid or syphilis

Started taking cirpoflaxin, 3 tablets so far and the lesion looks different all the time and is getting smaller.

There is a lab close by, if i go to get a test for syphilis, will it still show up even though i have taken the ciproflaxin.

Also next to it is maybe a wart

I cannot see where to upload a picture

* no pain or itching at the site

Was more defined a few days ago more red around the edges and clear in the middle

I noticed this about 2.5 months ago , i thought it was a scatch and would wait to see if it healed, but i forgot about it and noticed it more severe over the last 10 days

Brief Answer:
Could be syphillis, go for lab tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service.
I have gone through your complaints and reviewed the attached photographs.
It could be syphillis.
You can definitely go for VDRL lab test for syphillis.
Results won't be altered even if you have taken ciprofloxacin.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to answer any further questions.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Thanks so much for your response, I will go right now to the lab for testing.

The images showed two areas of concern

One larger lesion and one smaller which i thought looks different and maybe a wart.

Do you think the 2 lesions are the same or different cases

Thanks so much !

Ok, thanks
Going to the lab now, in the case of testing positive for syphilis what would be the course of antibiotics, which and for how long or I read there is a penicillin injection, what would be the best course of action?

Thanks so much
I will let you know the lab result later

Brief Answer:
Not looking like herpes and chancroid

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it's not looking like herpes.
Herpetic ulcers are very painful and leave superficial painful erosions.
No need of urine test.
Its not looking like a chancroid because the ulcers in chancroid are associated with moderate to severe pain, undermined ulcer edge and painful lymph node enlargement.
I would recommend you to apply topical antibiotic like fusidic acid cream or mupirocin cream on the ulcer twice daily for 10 days.
This should resolve it.
