I Have A Spot On My Neck That Appeared Suddenly

default
Posted on Sat, 3 Nov 2018
Question: I have a spot on my neck that appeared suddenly yesterday; it started a bright red, about the size of the eraser on the end of a pencil. Today it is brown, lighter in color and still the same size. I don't know if it is an insect/arachnid bite or some form of skin cancer.

Brief Answer:
Explained below

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Thanks for writing back,

I have gone through the attached image,

From the image, it does look like a normal bug bite. Bug bites can be both painless and non-itchy too. But just so as to rule out other differentials as I am not able to get a physical examination done, I would like to know a few details:

- Have you noticed the appearance of similar spots elsewhere on the body?
- Any history of intake of chronic medications like warfarin or clopidogrel?
- Any history of vascular diseases?

If you are free of the above details, then nothing to worry. This should resolve within a few days time.

I hope this helps,

Please feel free to discuss further,
Regards
