Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* As per my surgical experience, the swelling of lower leg and ankle can be attributable
to different clinical contexts as cellulitis, venous obstruction, cardiac conditions or else
depending upon the presentation.

Kindly provide me further details so that I can answer your query completely.

1. Is the swelling involving both legs or one side only ?
2. Any relation with activity as worsen with walking if any ?
3. Associated complains of discomfort in breath ?
4. History of any heart issue, diabetes, current medicine intake apart from celebrex ?
5. Any particular trauma event preceding the swelling ?
6. If possible, kindly take a photo picture of the swelling part and send as an attachment
during follow up session.

Awaiting for your response.

The swelling is in one leg only. I played 18 holes of golf today and yesterday I taught two classes back to back while standing(total of 2 hours). I have no history of any other health problems other than a bit of arthritis in the knee of the leg that is swollen.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the details.

* The unilateral swelling seems more related to venous circulation part issue in majority
of the instances.

* My guidelines at present

- Keep the affected leg elevated over a support of 3 pillows when resting.
- Avoid prolong standing, sitting with legs hanging.
- Do remain ambulatory, but avoid strenuous work.
- Watch for the progress of the swelling over period of time.
- No medications required at present, if pain you can consume paracetamol at the most.

* Follow up after 2 days about the progress or early as per the need.

Wish you best recovery and health.
Thanks.
