Question: I have an unrecognized pain in my upper left chest. I've had it about an hour and it seems to have subsided somewhat. On a scale of 1-10 its about a 3 but I'm concerned about the location of the pain. Seems to get worse with a deep breath. Any idea what could be causing this ?

Brief Answer:

X ray chest and ecg

Detailed Answer:

Hi

Since the pain is on the left side just to be on safe side would advise you to go to emergency do a ecg, X ray chest and 2 D echcocardiography

It could be due to angina which is a chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.

Also could be due to pleurisy which is condition of an inflammation or irritation of the lining of the lungs and chest.

You likely feel a sharp pain when you breathe, cough, or sneeze

It could be even due to gaseous distension of abdomen

In order to come to definitive diagnosis x ray chest and ecg absolutely necessary.

For pain tablet paracetamol and proton pump inhibitor with doctor advise can be taken

Regards
