I Have Been Diagnosed Trigeminal Neuralgia Why This Happen?
Changes in blood pressure to consider besides trigeminal neuralgia.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have read your query and here is my advice.
The new kind of pain around teeth and triggered by food biting is most likely related to irritation of new branches of the trigeminal nerve.
TMJ problems result in different symptoms.
The treatment is the same as the previous symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia.
You should also avoid solid or semisolid food to prevent triggering the pain.
Headaches located at the back of the head and above the neck may be caused by changes in blood pressure, especially high blood pressure,
Occipital neuralgia or pinched upper cervical nerves also may explain such symptoms, simple painkillers are of benefit in such cases.
It is advisable to monitor your blood pressure for few days several times a day.
If abnormal values then you should see your primary care Doctor.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks
My blood pressure is not bad 120-130/70-80 usually. When I had anxiety attack my blood pressure got very high a few years ago. And it caused a lot of problem such as a ringing ear on left side of brain. I am very careful not to get BP high. Sometimes drugs brings it high. I try not to drugs If I can. My left leg above ankle get cold often and I have to massage it. Is it because of BP or circulation of blood?
Pain I have now looks like pinched nerves or something as you suggest. The pain is somewhat different from before.
Another thing I forgot to mention, I have a sharp pains in my toe and elsewhere sometimes this is also like nerve pain. My nerve system looks like messed up badly.
Do you think it will be O.K. after sometime if pain does not get worse? I can bear the pain without any pain killer now. I try to do some exercise daily.
Besides, nerve pain I feel very tired and feel dizzy, have cough, hard to voice sometimes. I take Amlodipine 2.5mg for high blood pressure. All these conditions look like side effect of Amlodipine. I get side effects from some drugs and changing BP drugs. I would like to have your opinion.
Thanking you in advance, XXXXXXX
Amlodipine may cause some adverse effects too.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for being on follow up.
It is true that drugs such as amlodipine may cause adverse effects including nerve pain.
Since the pain is moderate and you are doing well without painkillers, these adverse effects are acceptable in comparison with the correct control of the blood pressure.
On the other hand, occipital neuralgia may cause also the headaches at the back of your head.
Again, if the pain is bearable it is okay not to use drugs.
Painkillers should be used if there will be an increase in pain level.
Discuss with your primary care Doctor about these issues.
Hope I helped you.
Greetings.
I appreciate your advise and information.
I would like to ask about Occipital Neuraligia. I don't feel well when I put my head on a pillow or anything. I have to be careful how and on what I put my head when I sleep otherwise I feel pain in my mouth, not sharp but annoying headache, etc.
Is this Occipital Neuralgia? When my eyes were bothered by some reasons I had pain in back of my head and I had to massage my head esp. behind of eyes. Maybe I did it too strong and caused neuralgia. Is this possible? Or is it all related to Trigeminal Neuralgia?
I did not have any injury or anything. I can touch my hair and head without causing any pain. But I feel heavy and uncomfortable, not clear, in my head always. It is related to with my eyes too.
Is there possibilities it gets worse? Or maybe no one knows.
Thanks XXXXXXX
Trigeminal neuralgia less possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Occipital neuralgia is caused by pinched or compressed upper cervical nerves that supply the back, and top of the head skin.
Trigeminal neuralgia is less likely the cause in your case regarding the location of the symptoms.
Occipital neuralgia may be exacerbated by the inappropriate head and neck positions.
Usually is not related to eyes problems.
Since the pain is moderate and bearable, I don't think there is a need for treatment.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
