I Have Been Diagnosed With Peripheral Neuropathy And My Neurologist

Question: I have been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and my neurologist ordered some blood work to see if there is any cause for my neuropathy. He said there is nothing in my test that shows the cause of my neuropathy. However I see that a couple of my white blood cell counts are high. Is this any cause for concern? Thanks.
Brief Answer:
Some values are slightly increased. Read below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.
I have read your query, I saw the report that you uploaded too.
Monocytes and eosinophils may be found increased in cases of very common infections, allergies, or parasites infection and are not related to the peripheral neuropathy.
In your case, their value is slightly increased so, you should not be worried about.
According the results, HbA1c ( or glucosated hemoglobin ) is slightly increased within the prediabetes values.
Follow up and monitoring of your glycemia is necessary in your case.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dear Dr Spaho,
Thanks for responding. In car you were wondering, my bilirubin has been high for many years but I have been told since the rest of liver functions are Ok, this is not an issue.
My glucose levels really suprised me. My glucose levels have been in the mid 80s for as far back as I can remember, even as recent as October 2019. I wish I knew what made this value rise. I have never checked my A1C before as this has not been something my regular doctor requests during my annual physical.
I do not feel that I am over weight 6'3", 196 lbs, try to eat healthy foods (most of the time...), and I am an avid cyclist as I logged 875 miles last year. I don't know what else to do and I certainly do not want to become diabetic. I would appreciate any tips to lower my glucose. How should go about to monitor my glycemia?

Welcome back.
I think too that moderately high values of bilirubin alone are not a cause of concern.
Tips to follow in order to lower the glucose levels include diet, (avoiding sugars, fat, etc.using mainly vegetables), exercise (that you already are into it), avoiding alcohol, etc.
Monitoring glycemia (or blood sugar levels) requires a glucometer and measurement of glycemia in a fasting state, two hours after a meal, three times a day, in order to understand correctly the trend.
Discuss with your Doctor for these issues.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
