I Have Been Diagnosed With The Following: Proteus Mirabilis Morganella Should I Be Working? I Was Just Diagnosed With A Small Kidney Stone Too.
Question: I have been diagnosed with the following:
Proteus Mirabilis
Morganella Morganii
Moderate Anerobic Gram Neg Rod - not Bacterides Fragilis and
Rare usual cutaneous flora
Dr. treating with Cipro 500 mg twice a day for 10 days.
I am 70 yrs old - female.
I work at a XXXXXXX center which shares space with a day care center.
Should I be working? I was just diagnosed with a small kidney stone too.

Please tell me why your doctor prescribed the antibiotic? Do you have an infection?
What kind do you have? Where on your body is the infection?
*I'm asking these questions because the culture report from the lab does not indicate the source of the culture. Proteus mirabilis and gram-negative anaerobic bacteria are not normally found on the skin.*
What are your duties at the center?
Do you have any active contact with either the seniors or the young children?
* Please note, if you touch the adults or children and one of them has an open wound, you could spread an infection to the other person.*
Are you taking any other medications?
Please let me know these details so that I can assist you further..

Thank u for reply.
Problem started with nasal infection. Dr prescribed Mupirocin 2 times a day. Sinuses ok not infected. Then woke up with swollen gums.
Also bleeding from navel. Culture taken from navel. Now on Cipro 500 mg twice a day.
Bleeding from navel stopped but still red and tender.
I also recently was diagnosed with small kidney stone by ultrasound. No treatment stone too small but does cause mild pain. Urine test ok.
I have direct contact with seniors. I am program coordinator for very busy Center which has 4,000 registered members in an affluent community.
Children and infants in day care only walk past my office all day long in groups going to their playroom. No contact with them.

Because your navel is covered and not exposed there is no risk to the seniors, children, infants, nor anyone else. You may continue to work.
Have you ever had an infection of the navel before? Have you seen any drainage from your navel? Do you wear any clothing or other articles(like belt with buckle) that could have cut an opening in or around the skin of your navel?
Are gums still swollen?
