I Have Been Diagnoses With Vertigo , By An MD,

Question: I have been diagnoses with vertigo, by an MD, after being taken to the ER twice in 3 days. I was given Meclazine to take at night to try to prevent the nausea and dizziness. I have been told about a procedure that can be done in a doctor’s office that involves repositioning of the “crystals” in the inner ear. This has not been offered to me. My attacks have been very, very scary, to the point that I think I am having a stroke. How can I get a physician who would offer me an easy solution? Would an ENT or my PC know about this? I have read all about possible causes of my vertigo so I don’t need you to explain all of that. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Epley maneuver.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have read your query and here is my advice.
The procedure that you are referring to is the Epley maneuver, that is done to reposition the crystals within small canals of the inner ear.
It is a simple procedure without adverse effects, so, it can be done by an experienced GP.
The best thing in such case is an evaluation and the maneuver to be done from an ENT Doctor.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
