Question: I am a 45 year old female I have been experiencing a mild achy pain under left breast in the center on bra line. The pain seems to be in one spot and nonradiating. I had a full workup by cardiologist a little under three years ago due to tachycardia which was deemed to be benign. What is cause of such pain?

Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:

Hello,
I understand your concern and would explain that the pain in this region could be related to different possible causes: local musculo-skeletal pain related to inflammation (including costochondritis), a lung disorder, gastritis or the heart.

Anyway, it is less likely that the pain is related to the heart, considering the fact that it is just in one spot.

Is the pain triggered by pressure on the chest, deep breathing or body movements? This would be indicative of musculo-skeletal pain. In such case, I would recommend taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen for the pain.

Otherwise, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical activity, a chest X ray study, a resting ECG and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation and cardiac enzymes).

Hope you will find this information helpful!

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are not related to the heart.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Yes, it seems to be just musculoskeletal pain.

Of course if it was cardiac related , you would have a lot of other associated symptoms like shortness of breath, irradiating of the pain in the jaw or left arm, palpitations or blood pressure fluctuations.

So, I don't think that you should worry about it!

I would recommend using warm local packs and taking ibuprofen.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing all the best,

Dr.Iliri
