I Have Been Experiencing Persistant Abdominal Bloating For About Three

I am nearly certain at this point that it is not food/gastro related. I have been having regular bowel movements, passing gas and burping normally. There has been no improvement with over the counter medications like GasX (though I%E2%80%99ve tried many times!). I even took a laxative to see if that would flush something through me, but that just caused diarrhea- and I was still just as bloated after no food was left in me.
I wonder if this is something gynecological? I do have PCOS (as well as cervical dysplasia) but neither of those feel like they would cause anything like this. I am absolutely not pregant. This all feels as though it came on all of the sudden out of nowhere. I%E2%80%99ve had no change in diet. I eat very healthy and have no food intolerances. And like I mentioned- even when I don%E2%80%99t eat, i%E2%80%99m bloated. I wake up fully bloated. It is extremely uncomfortable and I feel miserable.
I am currently without health insurance and am looking for some kind of clue as to what this is/how serious it could be before I spend a fortune seeking help out of pocket. I cant really afford a bunch of testing and I fear urgent care will just give me dietary tips. Does this sound like something? Is it worth dipping into savings to go
The symptoms seem to be related to polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are many medical conditions that can cause bloating.
Based on the information that you provided in the query we exclude the gastrointestinal issue.
So, the most probable cause can be polycystic ovary.
It can cause abdominal bloating which can also be triggered by your diet.
An abdominal ultrasound is needed to confirm the diagnosis and take a specific treatment.
Meanwhile, I would suggest to avoid certain whole grains, fruits, carbonated drinks, and products containing artificial sweeteners.
Daily exercise is also needed to avoid the bloating.
In case of abdominal pain you can use an over the counter spasmolytic such as Buscopan 10 mg, three times a day.
If the diagnosis of PCOS is confirmed to be the cause of your bloating I recommend to consult a gynecologist for a specific treatment.
Usually the treatment consists in Clomiphene which is taken on prescription the first part of the menstrual cycle.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards!
