Brief Answer:
Yes, it could be related to BP

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
There are multiple causes for headaches, but in your case, the probable reason is high BP. Now if high BP is correlating with episodes of headaches, then it's a likely cause of headaches.
So you should get your high BP treated with antihypertensive like amlodipine or Telmisartan, and see for the response.
If headaches still persist then might need to think on the line migraine (especially if its throbbing half sided headache and associated with nausea vomiting).
So in a nutshell, it needs medication as its significantly elevated. You should also undergo some routine tests like renal function tests, renal artery doppler to find out the cause for high BP.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

So would you say that 50% or greater more likely than not that my hypertension is what is causing my headaches?

Answered by Dr. Sagar Makode (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
More than 50 percent chance is there

Detailed Answer:
Elevated blood pressure with headaches suggest the likely cause being high blood pressure. This is more than 50 percent likely.
And this high BP needs to be treated irrespective of headaches or any other symptoms as this can damage internal organs.

When I have these headaches due to my hypertension they are prostrating and I’m not able to go to work. Would you recommend I try to go to work? or just try to lay down until the headaches past. And can this affect my work if I try and work during these headaches episodes?

Answered by Dr. Sagar Makode (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
No, not recommended to work with such severe headaches

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Headaches can be very debilitating and may affect the quality of work badly. So better to rest in such situations.
Besides hypertension headache and migraine, I guess you don't have any allergies like rhinitis nasal blockages associated with headaches, as it can be a cause for headache in some individuals.
All the best.
