Brief Answer:
Fractures need 6 months to heal completely
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using "Ask a doctor".
I read your query and and saw your report.
Cracks and fractures need time to heal completely, usually 6 months. The fact that you have pain it means that it is still is on the healing process.
If what you are taking for pain does not help, consider combining it with something else.
Keep the foot up when you can so more blood can go there and can heal faster.
Avoid tight shoes.
If worse or not better consider seeing again your local doctor.
Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Can i get a perscription for something for the pain please

I am currently zerdol d . But still having pain with it . Should i have it in a cast .
Brief Answer:
No cast if it was only a crack, not a full fracture.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up question.
You can take Tramadol 50mg every 6 hours for 5 days. But depending on where you live, you will need a local doctor to release the prescription.
Apply ice on the toe but not directly in contact with the skin 3 times per day.
Keep the limb over the level of the heart.
You can tape the toe together with the toe next to it, so it stays mobilized and that may give it rest.
If worse or not better, or especially if you are not able to bare weight at the food at all because of the pain, then consider seeing another local doctor to evaluate your food again. Maybe it didn't heal correctly and in that case, especially if the fracture is at the big toe, it may need surgery to be corrected. I hope it is not in your case.
I hope this helps and that I have answered your question.

I uploaded a pic of what my foot looks like can you tell me where i put the circle what area is that its hurts too
Brief Answer:
The area looks swollen, but can be normal unless it hurts a lot while press
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I reviewed the photo you sent. I see the circle is not at the toe where you said you had the fracture. Did it started hurting there since when you hurt the toe or it started some time later? Can you even walk with that pain? Did you had this pain when you went to the orthopedist one week ago?
I am trying to determine if you had a new fracture or if it is a consequence from the first injury.
I see in the photo where you draw the circle a swollen area. That is normal in some people to be more prominent there.
Let me know more information about the pain and history with the injury.
Looking forward to your follow up question.
Regards.

I cant walk on it pains alot and the bumb was there theraphiat says its inflammed where tbe circle is .
Brief Answer:
Being able to walk with pain doesn't mean it is fractured
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I will try to answer with the information I have. I hope it helps.
-Not being able to bear weight at all in the foot means active fracture. -Being able to walk even if painful doesn't mean necessarily a fracture but can be overuse of the muscles.
If in your case the first applies, then you have to go see again the orthopedist because may be another fracture that he hasn't evaluated well.
If applies the second, then continue to use the analgesic medication and the advice I gave above and give it time to heal.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
