I Have Been In Severe Pain For Months. The Pain

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Apr 2019
Question: I have been in severe pain for months. The pain is in my bladder area. It is more of a cramping with the pain at a 7/10 level. I have no female organs for years, I have no more appendix or gallbladder. I have severe sharp shooting pain when pressing in the lower right abdomen right next to hip bone, my gyn said that’s my sigmoid colon. The other symptoms I’m having is a weird sensation of a string being pulled from inside my vagina to clitoris. I also have a throbbing in my genitalia and bladder area. It sometimes feels like my vagina is falling out. I don’t have incontinence, there is no pain or urgency with urination. I have also lost 18 pounds in last couple months and it feels like I’m losing my hair. I have been cleared by urologist after a cystoscopy and CT of abdomen. I have been to the gynecologist and she cannot find anything. My next doctor is the gastroenterologist. Could this pain and pressure be a Gastro issue? Or a pelvic muscle issue? Or maybe a nerve issue? Or any other ideas? Or possibly scar tissue? I’m so tired of hurting so much and need help!

Hi and thank you for asking!

I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows-

- first of all sigmoid colon is in the left side of the abdomen and pelvic area.

- the second and more important is that you need to be evaluated with: colonoscopy, fecal culture test

You are reporting that you have done an abdominal CT and it was normal.
Otherwise, diverticulitis for example is difficult to be diagnosed with CT abdomen. this is why you need a colonoscopy to rule out or confirm large bowel issues.

On the other hands you have been diagnosed with IBS and it may be associated with abdominal pain.

Hope it was helpful to you.
ps. please if it is possible to attach all your reports so I can review them by myself. You can upload them to the report section of this web page only.

All the best!

Can diverticulitis cause my severe pain in the bladder area, the genital pulling sensation, and throbbing?

As for IBS causing this, my IBS pain is usually just before or during bowel movements but this pain is more severe and different feeling, but constant.

I’m planning on scheduling a colonoscopy when I see my doctor on the 26th. I just want to make sure that I’m not letting something more serious go on for too long. I have considered going to the ER but didn’t think they would do anything but send me home with pain meds and tell me to follow up with my doctors.

Honestly, could this be something more serious like colon cancer? Would it cause this much pain?

Detailed Answer:
Hi back!

with regards to colon cancer, most of the time it is visible in the CT abdomen...Since you have done it and everything was normal, I don't suspect for colon cancer.

Otherwise, the colonoscopy will definitely help us to get a more accurate diagnosis.

A fecal culture test is also important in such cases.

Wish you good health.
