Brief Answer:
need to be reduced over a long long period

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

I can understand wanting to taper the medication to a lower dose

The length of time this has been taken has not been mentioned but if it has been used for a long period of time, it should be reduced very slowly to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

Your doctor can give you personal tapering instructions but if this is not possible at this time then you can consider the following: (1) reduce it by 25% the first week, this means that you should take 1.5 for one week
(2)the following week cut down by a further 25% to 1 mg, take that dose for 2 to 3 weeks
(3)reduce by a further 25% to 0.75 mg for a week
(4)the following week reduce by the last 25% to 0.5mg

Tapering schedules can vary but this is one way that the medication can be slowly reduced

i hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Thank you for your answer. I have taken it 11 years. May have to taper longer since I’ve been on it so long.
