I Have Been Smoking From Almost 9 Years Now. I
Question: I have been smoking from almost 9 years now. I am sometimes a moderate smoker & sometimes a heavy smoker. I have been drinking from quite sometime now. sometimes heavy & most of the times moderate.
i am not sure from when exactly but i think from almost 6-7 months (may be more than that or less than that) i have heard some kind of 'hiss' sound from my throat. Usually I have heard this when I am sleeping & when its quiet. 'hiss' sound comes slightly. just like how soda is poured in a glass. like that kind of sound.
what could be the reason for this? would this be because of smoking? has smoking caused a lot of problem inside me? or is it because of alcohol consumption?
pls answer to my question in detail. I am worried about it.

Brief Answer:
Antacid drugs...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
While alcohol has no direct effects on the lung, chronic smoking damages ciliary functions of respiratory lining cells leading to various lung damage. Common symptoms of smoking induced respiratory issues include cough and breathing difficulties. It doesn't explain the "hissing sound" that you describe.
On the contrary, smoking and alcohol both can also effect digestive functions leading to dyspepsia. I am not sure, but it could be possible that the sound you describe is due to dyspepsia and minimal burping. It is difficult to assume or confirm the condition without actually hearing it and examining respiratory and digestive system.
In this instant, I will suggest you try antacid drugs along with proton inhibitor drugs for a couple of weeks and see if the problem resolves. You can try Cap Sompraz L (esomeprazole + levosulpride) twice daily along with Syp Mucaine Gel three times a day.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
