I Have Been Suffering From Recurring Diarrhea For Few Weeks

Question: Dear Dr.
I've been suffering from recurring diarrhea for a few weeks. It gets better at times. But it doesn't go away. I haven't seen my doctor because it gets better and I think it will go away. I tried over the counter things and they work for a day or so. I think it may have something to do with the food in the cafeteria where I work. A co-worker said he also got diarrhea. I stopped eating there. I stopped drinking coffee which also helps. The food there also gives me muscle cramps and sometimes blisters. I had this same problem a few years ago. It went on for 2 months. My doctor had me get a CBC. It was normal except for my absolute eosinophils. The normal eosinophil range is 15-500. Mine normal is about 150 but when I had my bout of diarrhea it was about 1350. Should I just wait it out or see my doctor? Last time, he didn't seem to do very much. It went away on its own. What do you suggest? Art Blum

Brief Answer:
Use probiotics and loperamide
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I think you may need to use probiotics such enterogerina or yovita to reestablish the intestinal flora .
You can take loperamide after each diarrhea bowel movement.
Doing some diet changes such avoiding too much fruits and fruit juices, milk have water instead. You may try toasted bread, rise and eggs.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.

Dear Dr Xhofka,
Thanks for this information. I'll try it right away. How long after I give up fruit, fruit juices and start taking the probiotics you suggest before my system goes back to normal? If it doesn't go back to normal after I do this, I guess I'll call the doctor. I think part of my problem is I have lots of food sensitivities as I'm allergic to about everything.
Thanks again,
Art Blum
