Question: I have been suffering from severe earache on my right ear. it's been there for the last 2 days. I couldn't visit the doctor as I am in the containment zone(COVID-19). Please assist me on how can I get rid of the pain. I could hear some kind of constant sound something like "geeeeeeeeee". Please advise me.

Brief Answer:
Could you please tell us something more about your problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

I have gone through your query, but, before understanding your problem I need more clarifications.

1. Do you've cold, nasal block or pain in the tooth?
2. Did you use Q-tips to clean the ear?
3. Is the pain continuous or intermittent?
4. Is there fever associated with the ear ache?

If you could let me know more about your problem, I can help you in a better way.

Hope this answers your query; revert back to me if you have any follow queries.

Brief Answer:
Impacted cerumen or otitis externa...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing back

1. According to your description you could be having either impacted cerumen or otitis externa (inflammation of the external ear).

2. You can try taking over the counter medicines such as ibuprofen or diclofenac (if you are not allergic to these medicines) for reducing the inflammation and pain relief.
Ear drops with a combination of steroid and antibiotic can help in alleviation of pain and inflammation.

If the pain persists even after the above medications, you need to get yourself examined by an apt ENT Specialist.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Wish you early relief.
