I Have Been Taking Birth Control Since The Summer Of

Question: I have been taking birth control since the summer of 2018. While I do not take my pill at the same time each day, I rarely miss a pill. If I do, I take the “late” pill as soon as I remember and continue taking the rest as normal. On Saturday night, I missed my pill but took it first thing when I remember Sunday - this was, however, more then twenty four hours since my last pill. I had unprotected sex last night and I took Plan B about four hours after the sex occurred. Do I have a high chance of becoming pregnant?

Brief Answer:
Almost no chance of pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting us about your healthcare.
I have gone through your history and understand your concern.
As you had plan b with in 4 hours after unprotected sex, there is almost no chance of pregnancy in your case.
Just wait and watch for your menses. In case if you missed your period by 7days, get your home urine pregnancy test to rule out the possibility of pregnancy ( though the chances are very low in your case and period may get delayed due to hormonal imbalance caused by plan b).
Hope found useful, feel free to ask more information.
Good luck

Thank you for following back up with me. Are there any reactions/effects I should expect taking Plan B on top of birth control? Since I did take the pill that I missed and continued taking the pills as prescribed, I’d expect my body got more hormones than used to (considering that Plan B was taken).

Brief Answer:
Hormonal imbalance may occur.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Sorry for such a long delay in my response.

There could be a possibility of hormonal imbalance in your case as you took plan B along with your regular contraceptive pills.

But this hormonal imbalance resolves in a few months on its own.
Drink a lot of warm water and green tea for the same.

Hope you found this useful.

Good luck
Regards
