Question : I have been treated for hypothyroid and benign thyroid modules with 3 grains of NatureThroid a day for ten years. I am 54. My THS is always suppresses at <0.006 but Dr has not been worried as we have done bone density tests etc and all good and don’t have hyper symptoms. But my recent test shows Free T4 has gone up to 2.24? Why would this happen? She has reduced my dose of NatureThroid to 2.5.

Hello and thank you for asking!
The rests you reported suggest for high dose of nature thyroid.
It is not recommended for your age to remain long term in highwr doses that needed as it may have cardiac side effects except of osteoporosis.
So, i do agree to lower the dose too.
Check TSH, ft4 and ft3 after 6 weeks to be sure that everything is back to normal with the new dose.
