I Have Confirmed Grover's Disease . My Case Is Severe

Question: I have confirmed Grover's Disease. My case is severe and getting worse. I am 84 yrs old and in good health. I have had this over a year. I am surprised at the lack of treatment. Topicals provide very little relief, heat lamps are useless. I have it on my back and chest and arms and legs, also back the back of my knees and ears. My chest and back are the most numerous. A few of the "sores" are large like a size of a pea and are on my legs and these are easily knocked off by rubbing/my watch band etc. Then they bleed a lot and take some time to stop. I also have them on my head. I fear if I get them on my eyelids then what?

Brief Answer:
Grover's disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM...

I reviewed your query. And I believe that you suffer from Grover's disease, also known as transient acantholytic dermatosis.

I can understand your concern for severe itching and bleeding.

It is characterised by small red spots, which usually develop on the chest or back, but may also form on other parts of the body. And it leads to intense itching....It may last for six to twelve months.

As far as is I know.... there is no cure for Grover's disease and treatment is symptomatic . ... topical steroid creams such as hydrocortisone, anti-itch lotions containing menthol or camphor and calcipotriol cream may be considered.

Other treatment options are tetracycline, isotretinoin, antifungal like itraconazole, PUVA phototherapy, and steroid. Take treatment under observation of your dermatologist. Never take self medication.

Avoid anxiety, strenuous exercise, exposure to sun and warm bath...factors which lead to sweating.

I hope this would help you to control the lesions of Grover's disease.

I would like to assist you further,if you have any other query.

Regards.

Thanks.
