I Have Diabetes Could You Please Suggest Me What Could Be The Reason Of These Types Of Dizziness And Anxiety Feeling At Midnight And How Can I Control And Get Rid Of These Without Any Medications.?

Question: Hi doctor,
Since April'18 I have diabetes and was taking medications as suggested by doctor but due to frequent experiences of Dizziness, nervousness, anxiety started happening at midnight time mostly then my doctor told me that it is sign of low blood sugar level and suggested me to take one candy whenever I feel this kind of experiences also he asked me recently to stop medication and control with diet and exercises (walking etc.) which I follow up everyday.
it is been 1 week since I am not taking any alopathic medications and controlling it through proper diet and walking and my sugar levels are in normal range also, I didn't experience any of low sugar symptoms as of yesterday but yesterday midnight suddenly I started feeling diziness, faint, anxiety, nervousness feeling and at the same time I had frequent urinations as well (which happens generally in high sugar level) and when I checked my sugar last night 2.30 am then it came 142 mg/dl , which I believe is neither high nor low then I am confused why am I feeling both of these situations again , I took one candy and it became normal after sometime. Could you please suggest me what could be the reason of these types of dizziness and anxiety feeling at midnight and how can I control and get rid of these without any medications.
Thanks,
Abhas

Brief Answer:
Causes other than hypoglycemia
Detailed Answer
Hi,
I think you are not facing hypoglycemia.
The symptoms are suggestive of hypoglycemia.
But since the tested sugar during the episode is normal I suggest considering other causes.
Thanks.
I would recommend testing an EEG and Holter test.
This is because the 2 other possible causes in this situation are arrhythmia and seizures. Also I would suggest testing your blood pressure at the time. Alterations in BP can cause similar symptoms.
Do let us know the report.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
Feel free to contact us if you need any further information.
Best wishes. Dr Mittal
