Brief Answer:
It may not but require further evaluation as there can be several other causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, dry throat since 5 weeks, I think it may not be dangerous but should get evaluated. So kindly follow up with a bit more information.

Please let me know do you have fever, acidity, difficulty in swallowing, cold, cough or history of allergy?

Treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. As dry throat is usually seen in sore throat, allergy or acid reflux.

Till then I would suggest you to do saline or Betadine gargles. For allergy you can take tablet loratidine 10 mg once a day. Keep your self hydrated. Avoid smoking if you have it. Avoid hot and spicy foods. Avoid allergens.

Let me know I can assist you further... Thank you.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale.
