I Have Epilepsy And Am Prescribed 1500mg Levetiracetam , 200mg

Question: I have epilepsy and am prescribed 1500mg Levetiracetam, 200mg Vimpat, and a week and a half ago was upped from 25mg Lamotrigine twice a day, to 100mg Lamotrigine once a day. For some reason I wasn't thinking and didn't pay attention to the pill bottle, and kept going twice a day with the 100mg Lamotrigine. I haven't had any side effects from the upped dose. I just noticed it today because of refilling my pill box and seeing that I only have six of the pills left. My doctor isn't available, and now I'm anxious about this. What do I do? I still have 9 of the 25mg pills left.
Brief Answer:
You can continue with 2x25 mg Lamotrigine for few days.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.
I have read it query.
Don't worry, the maximal dose of Lamotrigine is up to 500 mg/daily, so, there is no reason to think about any damage from overdosage.
You can continue with the 2x25 mg of Lamotrigine for few days until you see your Doctor, since you still have these pills.
Next, you can continue as per Doctor's recommendation.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

So it’s a good idea to go back from the accidental 100mg x 2 a day right now to 25mg x 2 that I used to take, until I get ahold of my doctor? Just making sure
Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
Normally you should follow the Doctor's advice with 100 mg daily of Lamotrigine.
Since this is not possible right now, next best thing is returning to the previous regime.
This way you control the seizures and minimize the possible advice effects of the withdrawal from a higher dose.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask if you have further questions.
