Question: I have had a cold for over a week. My nose is severely sore and really irritated and almost maroon in color and huge and hard and it hurts. Is it a pimple? What can I do to make it go away!

Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Most likely it is due to a boil/ furuncle inside nose which is causing the nose to become red, swollen and painful (i.e cellulitis). The anterior part of the nasal mucosa is hairy and it can get inflamed due to infection of/about a hair follicle.

I suggest you take an oral antibiotic e.g Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid 625mg, three times a day for a week (you may need a prescription from your local physician for this).

In addition, I suggest you take an oral anti-inflammatory/ painkiller e.g Acetaminophen(Tylenol), two to three times a day.
