I Have Had A Pain In My Foot/ankle For About

Question: I have had a pain in my foot/ankle for about 3 days it is swollen and hurts to put weight on it. some areas it is sore to touch. the veins in it are bulging compared to the other foot. it feels like I dropped something heavy on the top of it. however I haven't done any activity to aggravate it. no twisting or rolling. the pain/sensitivity is on the right side by the knob of the ankle and continues across the top of the foot to the beginning of the toes. if I am on my feet all day I can barely walk and taking my weight off of it to make another step makes it throb big time.

Hi
As per your description,it looks like Cellulitis i.e. infection of skin and subcutaneous tissue.Any trivial trauma can cause this. Affected limb will be swollen,sore to touch.Apart from Ibuprofen, you should take Antibiotic.
I prescribe Antibiotic like Linezolid 600mg twice daily along with Anti inflammatory tablet to my patients with similar complaints.Limb should be elevated. Colour Doppler of the affected limb will give a clue.
You have to get your Uric acid levels now also.They will be raised in Gout.
Please consult a Surgeon,get examined clinically and proceed further.
Nothing to worry.It will come down.
