I Have Had Dull Pain To The Right Of My
Question: I have had dull pain to the right of my navel and a temperature that has been fluctuating from 98 to 99 degrees throughout the day today. Pain started last night and is unchanged. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and bronchitis 4 days ago and am on day 4 of Zithromax. No nausea, vomiting, have been able to have 2 bowel movements today as well as passing gas and no pain when I press on the affected area. Feels like a muscle strain from being twisted in bed and on couch all week as well as coughing, blood work and UA done at ER last night (after experiencing dizziness and nausea due to being too active yesterday), should I be concerned about appendicitis? Also is it normal for my temperature to fluctuate as antibiotics work?
Could this also be pain from ovulation? I am due for my next period in 2 weeks and usually experience ovulation pain more so on the right side
Brief Answer:
Mittelschmerz
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Yes, based on your description it appears to be ovulation pain.
If the pain worsens over time and persists for more than 3 days, if you start having loose stools or vomiting, then you may have to get a Ultrasound scan of the abdomen to rule out appendicitis.
If the pain is not relived in any position you sleep and gets subsided on pain killers then there is no need to worry as it could be ovulation pain only.
You can take painkillers like Tab MEFTAL P for symptomatic relief.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Mittelschmerz

Thank you. I did forget to mention that the pain goes more down towards where the uterus and ovaries would be, there is mild discomfort if I press on that area which I'm assuming is near the ovary and does not change by laying on either side. Should I be concerned with the temperature going up to 99.5 throughout the day or is that normal for when one is recovering from infection and antibiotics are starting to work? Should I wait and go to the ER if things get worse?
I am 35 and have noticed that ovulation is becoming a lot more painful and then hot flashes becoming more severe in the days before my period starts as well as the first couple days during. Don't really get menstrual cramps anymore in the days before my period like I used to or the cravings for certain foods, I typically know by The Hot Flashes. Is this a sign that I am close to approaching menopause? I have read that a woman who has had no children by age 35 is more likely to go into early menopause. My mother was 55 when she went through menopause but she did have a child (me)
Brief Answer:
No need for antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
thanks for contacting be back.
No, there is no need for antibiotics or a visit to ER.
The rise in temperature is physiological during ovulation.
Yes, women who had not been pregnant are known to attain menopause at an early age.
The pain during ovulation does not indicate that you are nearing menopause.
These episodes may be short living and may in coming future not happen again.
The reason for these ovulation pains cannot be explained.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.

Thank you for the information. About how many days should I expect to have the ovulation symptoms? Not much change in the discomfort today and my temperature is still fluctuating between 97 and 99.5. Is it normal for my temperature to go up while I'm recovering from the bronchitis and sinus infection? Also would Zithromax cause side effects such as malaise, dizziness, or headache? Took my last dose today so I'm hoping as it stays in my system for the next five days I will start feeling better with the side effects
