I Have Had Mononucleosis Previously, But Didn T Notice The
Question: I have had mononucleosis previously, but didn't notice the condition until a routine blood test was performed by my pediatrician at the time (2014). Beginning last XXXXXXX (2019), I had a persistent cough, which I have never contracted before. By November, I was gagging and coughing blood from coughing so frequently. Over time, I began experiencing night sweats where I drench my clothing, muscle soreness, abdominal pain, and my heartbeat and BP spiked. I do not smoke or drink. I eventually had blood tests done, which showed abnormally high lymphocytes in over five blood tests occurring in the past six months . After referral to oncologist, my results from mayo clinic showed elevated d-dimer and abnormal platelets. What are the ranges that are still considered 'okay', even if too high for Mayo Clinic's 'normal'? I have had scans of my abdomen, sinuses, tilt table test, lungs, upper GI scope, multiple CBC, CMP's which have shown abnormal D-Dimer, Lymphocytes, abnormal liver enzymes, 4.4x1x1.5 cm liver lesion, mild basilar scarring, proteinuria, hypertension (very onset, odd for me), and random little findings that the doctors are struggling to piece together. The progression of my symptoms baffles me, as do my test results because small findings often are not serious. Could this be a result of mono multiple times? Hodgkins? Let me know any thoughts you may have or questions, thank you so much!
Occasionally, I feel as if someone's pressing on my chest, and I have learned to differentiate between 'anxiety' gasping, and being unable to stop with a wet cough gasping for breath. I would love to have a nudge in the right direction, as the CT scans, follow-ups, blood tests, etc. all show the same results over and over. I am not necessarily worried, and I understand that doesn't mean I will feel fine again immediately, but it is a start. I am not a professional, so I figured I would ask a professional's thoughts.
Brief Answer:
Flowcytometry for characterization of elevated lymphocytes is advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on Ask A Doctor forum.
After going through your query, I suggest you to get a flowcytometry for abnormally high lymphocyte count after consulting your hematologist.
It needs to be known whether the lymphocytes are monoclonal or polyclonal or in simple words whether the lymphocytes and benign or malignant.
All other symptoms may be reult of elevated lymphocytes.
Kindly, post your flowcytometry report once it is done.
Thanks and take care

Who should I ask? My oncologist will not see me for few months. I am willing to travel to hematologists in the area. What blood/CT/biopsies should I ask for?
Most conclusive idea thus far. Thank you!!!
