Brief Answer:
Joint lubricant supplements and arthroscopy can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through your query and understand your health concerns ,
The swelling of the knee that you have is likely to be due to an injury to the internal structures of the knee along with osteoarthritic changes. You need to get a CT scan done to find the damage or get a diagnostic arthroscopy done for proper diagnosis and repair of any torn ligaments. In addition you also need regular joint lubricant supplements like glucosamine and hyaluronic acid injections to decrease the wear and tear of the knee cartilage.
Physiotherapy will help in preventing the further progression of the problem. You can start with proper supplements after consulting your orthopedician.

I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Torn muscle is less liekly.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing again.
A torn muscle or quad is less likely. The internal structures of the knee need to be examined first for any tear. Age related osteoarthritis can also cause such a pain.
Hope my answer is helpful.
